Root Canal Therapy

Save Your Natural Teeth With Root Canal Therapy

Sometimes if you have a cavity, a deeper crack in your tooth, trauma to the tooth, or a leaking restoration, the soft tissue inside the canal of your tooth called dental pulp may become infected or abscessed, leading to great discomfort and pain. You may also experience severe sensitivity to cold and hot food and liquids accompanied by spontaneous throbbing. This condition can only be treated with what’s called root canal treatment.

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is the process of removing infected, injured or dead pulp from your tooth. The space inside the hard layers of each tooth is called the root canal system. This system is filled with soft dental pulp made up of nerves and blood vessels that help your tooth grow and develop.

During root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, a dentist will gently anaesthetize the tooth, and carefully clean, disinfect, and fill the interior of the affected tooth to prevent any other bacteria from entering. To return the tooth to its functioning capacity, the last step of root canal therapy consists of restoring the tooth with a tooth-coloured dental crown.

If you are experiencing severe tooth pain and suspect you might need root canal treatment, please don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Ryan to book your dental appointment or call us today: 519-940-8333.
